Background Check Obligations of Placement Agencies and Vendors
Consider making the requirement to do background checks part of your contract with your placement agencies and other vendors who send people on site. Don’t limit the contractual language to requiring background checks. Specifically spell out the minimum parameters/criteria to be covered in the background checks. E.g. SSN and Address Verification, 7 year criminal history (statewide in NY/NJ and County-By-County outside NY/NJ), OIG Exclusion List Check, GSA Exclusion List Check, Employment Verification (minimum of 2 for JCAHO), Education Verification (highest level completed), Professional License Verification, Nurse Aide Registry check, etc. . . .
